All-day dining infused with Italian influence.

Bisa Hospitality—who brought you Joe’s Bar, Agostinis, and Occasioni by Agostnis—is excited to announce its latest project, Café Sosta, located on John Cardiff Close on Black Mountain Peninsula in Red Shed, Canberra’s brand-new, state-of-the-art rowing facility.

Red Shed is a new Community Rowing venture and part of the Black Mountain Rowing Club that has a mission to enable rowing for all, inspire wellness and commit to community, so people from all walks of life are welcomed and supported with fun opportunities for personal growth. ‘Rowing for All’ is a commitment to providing accessible rowing programs for people of all ages, abilities, identities and socio-economic backgrounds, ensuring the joy and to providing rowing are experienced by all.

When Red Shed offered Bisa Hospitality the opportunity to run the café within the shed as well as cater for the events in the main conference and events room, The Telopea Room, they were both honoured and extremely excited to work with this not-for-Profit enterprise.

“Having the opportunity to run a café and hold events right on Lake Burley Griffin’s edge was one we couldn’t resist. The view at The Red Shed is spectacular, and such a unique venue for weddings, special birthdays, and corporate events. Having a busy rowing schedule with rowers moving in and out of the shed daily and local Canberrans riding bikes, running, and walking around the lake, we wanted to offer a place to take a break, stop and replenish. Hence, we named the space Café Sosta—‘sosta’ being the Italian noun to take a break, to pause and to stop.”

Café Sosta will be offering an all-day dining menu from 7am until 2pm with an Italian influence, of course. Dishes such as our Breakfast Frico made from Montasio cheese, meltd into a chewy, indulgent pancake with eggs, potato and tomato, or choose from our Pane della Casa with classic toppings such as cherry tomato, buffalo mozzarella & basil, pork & fennel meatballs, or house-cured smoked salmon with pickled cucumbers. Need something more? Imagine freshly made spaghetti pomodoro with burrata and lemon zest or our fresh Sosta Fattoush salad alongside an espresso or a glass of vino bianco—or a Sosta spritz!
